Welcome to the website for instructors teaching in the English Department during the Winter and Summer Sessions. Here you’ll find general information about the upcoming Sessions, the Department expectations for Winter and Summer instructors teaching English courses, tips and strategies for promoting and filling your assigned classes, and resources to support your teaching.  The site will grow over time, so you’ll want to bookmark it and use it as a reference source.

General Information about Winter and Summer Sessions

Each Summer, Queens College offers four Summer Sessions for matriculating and non-matriculating undergraduate and graduate students:

Session 1 runs for 4 weeks in June.
Session 2 runs for 4 weeks in July.
Session 3 runs for 6 weeks from the start of July to the middle of August.
Session 4 runs for 10 weeks from the start of June to the middle of August. 

The Winter Session runs for 3 weeks in January between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Between Winter and Summer 2024, students will able to take the following undergraduate courses in the English Department:

English 332 – Shakespeare I
English 333 – Shakespeare II
English 360 – Latina, Latino, and Latinx Literature
English 363 – Global Literatures in English

The following MA graduate courses will also offered during the Summer Sessions:

English 719 – Studies in Medieval Literature
English 721 – 17th Century Literature
English 728 – Late 19th- and Early 20th-Century U.S. Literature
